We've had some discussion about creeping informality among patrollers (that includes us) towards the expectations implicit in our public service mission. How do we balance availability and visibility to backcountry users with the lure of fresh powder or a patroller's desire to get home early to feed the dog?  Do we need to enhance our members' focus on the Patrol's mission and the responsibilities that implies? How can MM's and PL's promote that focus when out on patrol?

We've had some discussion about creeping informality among patrollers (that includes us) towards the expectations implicit in our public service mission. How do we balance availability and visibility to backcountry users with the lure of fresh powder or a patroller's desire to get home early to feed the dog? Do we need to enhance our members' focus on the Patrol's mission and the responsibilities that implies? How can MM's and PL's promote that focus when out on patrol? (David)
